32 | Teacher-child ratios were observed to be in accordance with Title 22 Regulations. Staff names were recorded. All children were observed to be under supervision, including visual supervision, of a teacher at all times. The licensed facility is within the conditions, limitations, and capacity specified on the license.
LPA observed the facility to be clean, sanitary and in good repair. Furniture and equipment were inspected and observed to be free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. Classrooms were inspected to ensure that the floors have a surface that is safe and clean. All toilets and washing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating conditions. Per Program Manager, at this time the "Teacher Office" is used as an isolation area. A cot is available for an ill child to rest on. Parents are contacted immediately when children are determined to be ill and staff are ensuring that children with obvious symptoms of illness are not being accepted.
The facility provides breakfast, lunch and pm snack. Menus were reviewed to ensure that they are being posted at least one week in advance and visible to an authorized representative. Meals and snacks are delivered daily from the central kitchen and stored in a warmer. All food preparation, and storage areas are clean, free of litter, rubbish, and rodents/vermin. All food is protected from contamination, and LPA inspected that any contaminated food is discarded immediately. LPA observed both programs have a small kitchen with a refrigerator that is inaccessible to children.
Drinking water was readily available indoors and outdoors. Per Program Manager, there is drinking water available in the classroom via a water jug and disposable cups and children are able to drink freely at any time. Staff take water jug and cups outside during outdoor play.
LPA observed individual storage (cubbies) for children and appropriate sleeping arrangements in the form of cots available in both programs. Per Program Manager the facility washes bedding weekly. LPA observed restrooms for both programs are in safe and sanitary conditions. The toddler program classrooms have a changing table that is within arms reach of a sink.
All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins, have tight fitting covers on and are in good repair. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons and other items that are dangerous to children are stored in an area inaccessible to children. Program manager states there are no weapons, firearms, or bodies of water on the premises and none were observed on this day.
