32 | LPAs conducted interviews with pertinent parties. Interviewees stated that there have been rodent droppings and rodent sightings at the facility since May of 2026. Interviewees stated that there is a company that the facility has contracted with that has been attending to the issue since it began but that the facility would be contracting with a different company that is more equipped to solve the issue. Interviewees stated that while rodents have been sighted at the facility, no rodents were observed in areas readily accessible to children in care. Additionally, while interviewees stated that rodent droppings were found in the classrooms, it was stated any rodent droppings found were cleaned immediately. Documentation via a “Daily Classroom Inspection Log” was kept detailing when classrooms were inspected, if droppings were found, where they were found, and what course of action was taken. Interviewees stated that while droppings were found in the kitchen, food is put in sealed contains and that children mostly bring food from home. However, it was stated that sometimes the facility will provide food for the children on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays if families opt into the "Monty's Munch Club" program. Interviews also revealed that children have not seen any rodents while in care.
LPA Ordonez was provided documentation that on 07/09/2026 the new pest control company signed a contract with the facility to provide services that included “FULL exclusion on all structures on property to exclude rodents out of buildings. Exclusion is sealing ALL rodent entry points around outside.”. Additionally, LPA was provided documentation showing that the previous pest control company that was utilized by the facility was attending to the issue as well. According to documentation, the previous pest control company came to the facility on 05/13/2026, 05/20/2026, 05/29/2026, 06/01/2026, 06/15/2026 and placed “Tin Cats”, bait stations, and glue boards inside and outside the facility. Documentation reveals several recorded instances of rodent captures/sightings in the utility room, front office, and/or the staff lounge on 05/11/2026, 05/19/2026, 06/11/2026, 06/18/2026, and 07/02/2026. According to documentation obtained, there was only one recorded instance of a “catch” in/near one of the classrooms. However, it is unclear whether the “catch” was a rodent and it was unclear where specifically the “catch” was noted in/near the classroom as LPAs previously observed glue boards, which were replaced due to the “catch”, in the ceiling panels rather than around the interior of the classroom itself where children are present. Furthermore, documentation shows that droppings were found on 05/02/2026, 05/27/2026, 06/08/2026, and on 07/07/2026 in the Garden classroom. Additionally, droppings were found in the kitchen on 05/14/2026, 05/26/2026, 06/04/2026, 06/24/2026, 07/01/2026, 07/06/2026, and 07/07/2026. Droppings were also found in the Savannah classroom on 05/26/2026 and 06/01/2026. |
