25 | On 8.1.23, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kris Diaz met with the Licensee, Heather Yarber for an unannounced annual/random inspection. The licensee gave the LPA access to the home and LPA toured. People who reside in the home are the licensee, her adult son, and four minor children (1mo, 8, 12, 14, 18). Both adults have fingerprint clearance. The licensee has the required immunizations against pertussis (TDAP), measles (MMR) and has a signed statement declining the flu vaccine. At the time of the visit LPA observed 10 childcare children. LPA reminded licensee that 100% supervision is required at all times. Per the licensee, the large family childcare home operates 6:00am-6:00pm Mon-Fri. Licensee provides 24 hr. care when needed. LPA reminded licensee that she should be awake when the kids are awake. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) were discussed. Per the licensee, she does not have childcare children who need IMS currently.
This is a two-story home with 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, kitchen, dining area, formal living room (main day-care area – Big Room), family room, laundry room, and garage. There is a pool/or body of water on the premises. LPA observed latched gate that meets Title 22 Regulations. Per licensee, the pool is not accessed during childcare hours when daycare children are present. Children have access to bathroom near living room and the backyard. Children also have access a room near family room that is separated by a wall. LPA observed several age-appropriate toys, books, play structures, and activities in the childcare areas and outside. Per licensee, off-limit areas of the home are the entire upstairs, laundry room, kitchen, and garage.
The home was inspected inside and out for safety, comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, heating and ventilation, inaccessibility to poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds (kept in upper kitchen cabinet), medicines (kept in upper kitchen cabinet), and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children. Sharp knives are kept in kitchen drawer inaccessible to children with a safety latch. |
