25 | On September 18, 2026 at 9:00AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Hector Canton conducted an unannounced annual inspection and to evaluate a requested room change. Upon arrival, LPA met with Jennifer Rodriguez and toured the indoor and outdoor areas of the center. Fire clearance for the room change was granted on September 9, 2026 by Carlsbad Fire Department. The facility’s hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 6:00pm.
During today’s inspection, LPA observed a total of 17 children in care with 4 staff present. Census by room was as follows:
• Room 208: 17 children with 3 school-age teachers
The facility was operating within proper ratios and capacity.
LPA toured all classrooms. Furniture, toys, books, and materials were observed to be safe, age-appropriate, and in good repair. Rooms had adequate heating, lighting, ventilation, and comfortable temperature. Drinking water was readily accessible to children throughout. All hazardous items and cleaning supplies were stored inaccessible to children. Carbon monoxide detector was tested and operational.
The facility is requesting to add room 706, continue the use of rooms 201, 203, 208, 606, STEM Lab, Library and the Multiple Purpose Room (MPR). The capacity is requested to remain the same at 140 children. The facility is exempt from square footage requirements as they operate a school-age program at a functioning school-site.
Bathrooms and handwashing stations were inspected and found to be clean, sanitary, and in good working condition. All fixtures, including toilets, sinks, and ventilation, were functioning properly, and supplies such as soap and paper towels were adequately stocked.
