32 | Cleaning solutions are stored in the cabinets beneath the kitchen sink, which are secured by way of child safety latches, as well as in a tool shed in the backyard, which remains padlocked and inaccessible to children in care. LPAs observed age-appropriate toys, furnishings, and equipment throughout the interior and exterior of the FCCH. LPAs observed a fireplace in the living room, which has a locked cover and is fully obscured by a wooden cabinet furnishing used for child care, situated in front of it. Licensee informed LPAs that the fireplace is not used during daycare hours. LPAs observed no animals present on site, and confirmed that this was the case with the Licensee. LPAs also observed a first aid kit located within a hallway closet.
LPAs observed relevant licensing forms and documents posted prominently at the entryway of the residence. LPAs observed a smoke detector and a carbon monoxide detector, located in the living area and the hallway, respectively, which were tested at 9:13AM and found to be operable. LPAs observed a regulation fire extinguisher (3-A:40-B:C) in the FCCH which was recently serviced on July 21st, 2025. LPAs reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. LPAs reviewed the FCCH's fire/disaster drill log. The most recent disaster drill occurred on 7/18/2025. LPAs reminded the Licensee that disaster drills must be conducted every six months per Department regulations.
As aforementioned, part of the backyard is accessible to children in care. The accessible area is fully enclosed by wooden & metal fencing, with entry/exit points being latch-secured, and the home building. The footing of the backyard area is made up of tiles & concrete pavement. Like the interior of the FCCH, childcare toys, structures, and play equipment observed in the outdoor play area are age appropriate and are in satisfactory condition. LPAs also note that the front yard is occasionally used for daycare purposes, and is fully enclosed by metal & wooden fencing, & latch-secured gates. In the backyard, shade is afforded by a canopy-extension of the home building. LPAs observed no bodies of water on site and confirmed that this was the case with the Licensee. LPAs reminded the Licensee of the importance of direct supervision over children in care and to conduct inspections of the outdoor area prior to letting children outside.
